Mission / Vision / Goals

Mission

The mission of the Capital Region Maritime Center, Inc. (CRMC) is to develop and offer programs, services and information to encourage and support maritime-related economic development, occupational opportunities, education, research, recreation, environmental and natural sciences, history, and regional identification.

Vision

Through a grassroots effort, CRMC will meld the maritime industry, public education, social services, the military, local government, businesses and the community and provide the forum and venue to work together to enhance maritime-related education and job creation in the region.

Goals

  • Develop practical skills which may help individuals prepare for job opportunities with the maritime trades and industry;
  • Support educational, vocational, occupational and recreational aspects of the maritime trades, the industry and related fields;
  • Build a community and academic center where people, including and especially unserved and underserved youth, can learn about and engage in maritime activities;
  • Promote and foster the advancement of the physical, social and moral standards of the community including social and civic responsibility in support of the Mohawk River and other waterways in the area; and,
  • Create other kindred forms of endeavors that will tend to promote an interest in and activities related to the marine environment, recreation, trades and maritime history.

Philosophy

CRMC believes that the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers have been neglected resources with rich histories that can be effectively harnessed to enhance all parts of life. By growing interest in and enthusiasm for these waterways, the CRMC is positioned to help build the leaders of tomorrow, spur economic growth, educational and vocational opportunities, and other development in river-connected communities.

CRMC is the Capital Region's only maritime-related nonprofit Center and facility.
